Killing wildlife and removing their skins and horns to sell, is absolutely unethical; hence we call this matter of offence poaching. Poaching is illegal and we should all work together to stop it. This is a problem in Africa, because wildlife it at its best here. Many animals such as rhinos, elephants and tigers, are killed in the wildlife parks. These animals should be protected because they are endangered due to their declining numbers.
Fighting back
Animals are the most precious part of our lives; they were created so we could take care of them because they are slightly different to us. They make this world and life itself complete. If we let these savages destroy them, then we are also letting them destroy us. Life is of the essence, not only human life, creatures need to be looked after. It’s our responsibility. Images of wildlife being slaughtered for their skins and tasks… it completely shows that poachers are heartless beings.
The other day I almost had an emotional breakdown when there were pictures of rhinos circulating where the poachers robbed their horns and left them to die. Why do they do this? Mainly these poachers believe animal’s horns are a source of sacred healing medicine for severe uncommon illnesses.
Why are they doing this?
Poachers also use the elephants’ tusks as some kind of jewellery and ornaments. All they need from that massive animal is the ivory, which they will kill without thinking twice about it; it’s so unfair that their insane need leads to the dying of the elephant. Hundreds of elephants have been killed for their tusks. They mainly search for the big good looking tusks and the savannah elephants suffered the most because they had the desired characteristics. When the adults almost became extinct, the poachers started targeting the baby elephants.
It’s still happening
The elephant used to and still is one of the most poached animals; currently the rhino is also suffering severely because of its horn, which is believed to be used for producing mysterious medicine, which cures seizures and other chronic diseases. It is believed to work as an aphrodisiac. The rhinos’ horn was tested and it was scientifically proven that is doesn’t consist of any materials which can cure these things ridiculous theories. In the end we see that the rhino is suffering from traditional ideas and theory.
In a nutshell, not only the elephant or the rhino are at terror, the big 5 is affected. If these animals eventually become extinct, what do we call it then…? The big 3…? Wildlife as a whole was created that way without any missing animals. Hence we should guard it jealously from these selfish savages.
Fighting back!
Luckily the game parks have stood together and said “No more”. Currently more rangers are being recruited and trained by professionals to capture these poachers and send out a message that we’re angry and the animals will be avenged.
Gyna Tigere loves animals and hates the fact that poaching occurs in the World, she has done extensive work with members of the Kruger National Park.
